TSS have backed up their clean sweep of IGS with their second straight sweep, dismantling Nudgee 8-0. All 4 boys showed excellent discipline with the closest set of the match being 6-4 in favour of TSS. The breakdown of the sweep was:
The final match of the season is on Friday against Churchie. If victorious, TSS will secure their most successful season in nearly 2 decades! See you there!
Both Seconds and Thirds suffered narrow losses, but competed well against a tough Nudgee side. The match featured many great personal performances including Angus Timoney’s match point saving win 2-6 7-5 6-2 at the #1 spot for the Seconds. The Thirds also kept Nudgee on their toes with Oliver Hall #1 and James Dwyer #4 comfortably winning their singles. Overall the team scores did not fully reflect the TSS Open teams performance.
Today both 11A’s and B’s came home with a victory. The A’s won handily with a total score of 38-30 against Nudgee. We took the momentum with 3 out of 4 doubles underway and finished with James ware closing out the day with a 6-2 win in the number 2 spot. The B’s were Challenged as they were closely matched and were tied game for game as the day went on. The day came to an exciting end with Foster Lane stepping on court for the last and crucial match as he decided the Match with a 6-4 win in the number 4 spot- making the final score 40-39. We’re very proud of the effort and positive attitude these young men showed given how tough Nudgee played today.
The 9As were very convincing in an all-round dominant performance against Nudgee, winning 48-7. Scott Ross and Joe Castor did not lose a game in their singles, both winning 6-0, and were also unbeaten in their respective doubles matches. The 9Bs won 3 of their 4 doubles games, with Judd van der Laan and Wyle Cullimore losing 9-7 in a close-fought tie-breaker.
The Year 8s went down to Nudgee College despite some close and competitive matches. In the 8Ds Will Abbott controlled his singles match throughout, winning 6-1. Spiros Arkouzis showed determination to overcome his 8C opponent 6-2. In other matches, Tom Maurice, Xavier Smith-Power(8Bs), and Charlie White (8As) all won their singles.
Our grade 7 boys once again proved too strong for their opposition today, with comprehensive wins over Nudgee in As, Cs and Ds, and the Bs holding a strong lead only to be thwarted by rain. Throughout all four teams, Nudgee could only manage to win a single set 7-5. Now eyes turn to Churchie for the final round of the season, with our teams brimming with confidence and eager to finish on a high.
