Term Two Updates and Opera Queensland @ TSS

From the Headmaster, Mr Andrew Hawkins

Most of the community will be aware by now that Father Jonathan went in for some routine surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital recently. Unfortunately, his recovery is taking a lot longer than anticipated and may be away from TSS for an extended period of time. Please keep Father Jonathan, and his wife Heather, in your prayers over the coming weeks. At the Prep School, Mr Brian Rowe will continue in his role as our Prep School Chaplain. In the Senior School, we have a number of staff members taking the weekly Chapels and various members of our local Parishes taking the upcoming baptisms and weddings.

Week 8 is always a busy time for students as we approach assessment on both campuses. At this time of term, it is a useful to remind ourselves to follow the MENS acronym of Mindfulness, Exercise, Nutrition and Sleep. Exercise and Sleep are often the first casualties when our lives get busy and we remind the boys and staff at this time of term of the importance of maintaining their daily routines.

As a way of unwinding after a busy term we hope you have secured your free tickets to the Opera Queensland performance Are You Lonesome Tonight as this is now a sold out event. The Opera will be performed in the Annand Theatre on Sunday 20 June at 6pm. If you wish to join the wait list for this event, please fill in your details on the online form. The show is an eclectic mix of country music and opera, albeit an unlikely combination! I have seen the show six times in regional Queensland and it is very easy to watch with a clever script and lots of humour. Our thanks to Opera Queensland for allowing TSS to be a partner for their 7000 kilometre tour.
