Increasing quality educational outcomes is my first priority, as well as giving students’ enthusiasm, enjoyment and illuminating career prospects. My goal is to be an effective educator, who endeavours to increase all student’s metacognitive awareness; whether we are preparing students for university or the work force, the ability to ‘think’ and be self-motivated is a great attribute.

Our aim as teachers is to promote a “growth mind-set”, in order to see the students under our care thrive and flourish. For us to achieve this goal, we must encourage our students to acquire a desire to learn and therefore have a tendency to:

  • Embrace challenges more willingly than avoid them.
  • Display persistence in the face of obstacles, rather than giving up easily.
  • Perceive effort as the path to mastery, instead of effort being boring and useless.
  • Attempt to learn from criticism, as opposed to ignoring or being stung by criticism.
  • Rejoice in the success and inspiration of those around us, instead of feeling threatened by the success of others.

As a Pharmacist, teaching Chemistry and Biology is a natural stepping stone in education; personally, I am passionate about the subjects that I teach. I find them really interesting and hope to convey this interest and enthusiasm to my students, so they also want to pursue a ‘Science-related’ career.
