In just over a week, we will be beginning our topic of Personal Development. This will involve a visit by True Relationships Queensland (formally Family Planning Queensland) to address our boys in Reception to Year 6, discussing the issues of “Healthy Choices through to Adolescence”. True Relationships Queensland will present information to the boys about issues that are age appropriate and relevant to them. It also gives the boys the opportunity to ask questions in a confidential manner and have them answered with a Christian emphasis.
Personal development and relationships education is an important way of promoting the development of healthy behaviours and attitudes. We believe that our boys need accurate information at all stages of schooling and we will focus on personal safety skills and body ownership through to dealing with young adolescent issues.
A Parent Information Evening will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 6:30pm in the Prep Staff Room (next to the Resource Centre) giving families the opportunity to listen to qualified speakers and give some parental tips on how best to broach the topic with your son/s. All information will be posted to Prepbook.
