Kiah Melverton produced an outstanding performance at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Kiah finished 7th in the 5km Open Water event. Kiah is the highest ranked Australian in all Open Water events this year. This means TSS has produced the highest ranked Australian Open Water swimmer for two consecutive World Championships. Kiah was also part of the Australia Open Water relay time that finished 4th. Kiah has swam at TSS for the past 12 years, starting in the junior program and now working with TSS High Performance Coach Chris Nesbit.

Max Osborn (Surman) won a Silver medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. Max competed in the 1500m freestyle for Australia last week in the Bahamas.

DT’s tip for the week

Winter training can be tough for swimmers, its colder, the days are darker, there are less competitions and more training sessions and more training sessions and more training sessions…but you need to keep going. One session, one day at a time you need to keep going and make the most of this period. Challenge yourself to improve in every single session. Pick something small like your turns or your kicking or ask your coach for one skill to improve and give it 100% attention in that session and just keep going. I am sure you’ve all seen Finding Nemo – well Dory isn’t wrong – “just keep swimming”. It will be worth it when the summer of racing comes around…
