Jesse Rutherford – TSS Cross Country Captain 2017

QLD All School

On Saturday the 6th of May, 29 boys from the TSS Cross Country Team travelled up to Kedron State High School and competed in the 35th Qld All Schools Championships. This race presented the boys with a fantastic opportunity to gain much needed competition experience against many other quality runners, as well as possibly gaining selection into the Queensland team. Even with the substantial number of highly classed athletes competing, TSS faired very well with all of the boys finishing with competitive placements. These include:

Under 9’s
Charlie Ell 41st

Under 10’s
Angus James 8th, Max Gallie 15th, Jack Gallie 28th and Nate Wilson 80th, placing these boys in first position overall in the Under 10 team competition.

Under 11’s
Johnnie Ell 31st, Jed Gallie 46th position and Joe Ray 51st.

Under 12’s
Zach Miller-Wright 14rd, Bryce Frollich 21st and Hayden Wilson 55th.

Under 13’s
Oscar Rutherford 13th and William Ell  19th.

Under 14’s
Hayden Atkinson 7th and Diesel Donnelly 11th.

Under 15’s
Oliver Cronin 15th, Kye Kanemura 40th, James Nield 50th and Ryan King 57th.

Under 16’s
Harley Nielson 19th while Jake Heck came in in 25th position.

Under 17’s
Kobi Rutherford 16th, Ollie Smith 28th, Hugo Sharples 30th and Curtis young finished the race in 42nd place.

Under 18s
Franky Maroney-Vita  4th, Oliver Todd 5th and Jesse Rutherford 6th.

Special mentions must go to Angus James, Max Gallie, Zach Miller-Wright, Oscar Rutherford, Hayden Atkinson, Diesel Donnelly and Oliver Cronin for their top 15 placements in what is considered the unofficial state titles. Despite only a small portion of the team competing, the team certainly showcased the quality runners we have and this race will undoubtedly help all the boys at GPS where we strive to move further up the GPS cross country ladder.
