The second GPS round was hosted by Toowoomba Grammar School at a freezing Clive Berghofer Rec. Centre (USQ). It was an impressive start to the game with the boys opening the score board with a 16-4 offensive run.
The tone was set early defensively by TSS with a remarkable 25 deflections, wearing down TGS and holding them to 5 points in the last quarter. Marko Savic was a standout with 26 points, 7 rebounds & 6 assists in only 24mins of play. Savic was joined by 6 other TSS players who finished the match scoring in double figures, resulting in a dominating 108-41 win.

2nds / 3rds
We split these two games with the Open 2nd’s having a good win with the addition of Louise Corkill and Liam Denniston bolstering the bench. The 3rds found the opposition too strong but played until the end going down 36 to 10.
The 11A’s (49 to19) and 11B’s (42 to 28) both had convincing wins and showed signs of nice passing and teamwork. Oliver Hill was dominant with offence rebounds and put-back baskets.
Even though the 11C’s were defeated by BBC 23 to 20, there were encouraging signs of improvement both on the defensive end and on offense.
After trailing at half time 9 to 4 the 11D’s put in a courageous effort, winning the second half 17 to 13 but eventually going down 22 to 21 to BBC. All players contributed throughout the game with great spirit on display.
10A’s bounced back with a much-needed win in leading the majority of the game. In the second half of the game the team played well and stretched the winning margin out to 25 with Max Levis (Open squad member) dominating the way with 15 rebounds and 18 points.
The 10B’s (52 to 6) had a convincing win and the 10C’s had a close one with a 25 to 24 win. These two wins ensured a year level clean sweep. Well done boys.
The 9A’s fought to the end but found the opposition just a little better going down in a close game 27 to 24. The 9B’s bounced back with a win by 2 points in a spirited and close game all the way and the D’s struggled against BBC going down 27 to 9.
We split the results in this age group with the 8A’s & 8B’s losing their games. However, the 8C’s won convincing and the 8D’s won a nail biter by 2 points.
What a thrilling end to the 7A’s game with the boys leading by three points, however with only seconds remaining an opposition player landed a three-point bomb and our boys had to settle for a 20 all draw. The 7B’s and 7C’s had solid wins for their year level.
Prep 6 and Prep 5
The Prep boys played very well on the weekend. All boys must be congratulated on great teamwork, specifically their passing and aggressive rebounds. The coaches were happy with the boys embracing the feedback and applying skills they have learnt at training. Well done on winning 5 out of 6 matches.
