Dear Boarding Parents,
Thank you so much to those of you who have already given your consent for your son to participate in this important research investigating boarder sleep. The number of positive and supportive emails from parents around this Wellbeing Health initiative has been extremely heartening.
As a psychologist I see firsthand the impact that chronic sleep deprivation can have on the boys. Over time, even 1 hour less sleep a night can have a significant impact upon mood, academics and emotional regulation. We are determined to prioritise sleep within the evening routines of each boarding house and we hope this study will allow us to apply the interventions that work in our unique TSS environment.
If you have not yet had a chance, please check your emails for your invitation to the Sleep Study that was sent out last Friday so your son can take part. In Week 5, Australia’s leading expert in child and adolescent sleep disorders, Professor Michael Gradisar, will open the research with a talk to all boarding house students. We look forward to bringing you updates on the study as we progress.
