TSS Cricket – Qld & South Coast Representation

TSS has celebrated a host of Gold Coast, South Coast and even Qld Rep selections in the last month with the Queensland Under 12’s, 15’s & 19’s Team still to come.

We are pleased to recognise Yr10 student Hugo Burdon on his selection into the Qld u17 Team to play in Tasmania in the Sept holidays. Hugo was a key member of our 1st XI Premiership this year and he captained Qld U15’s and is kicking on to potentially play Qld u17’s for the next 2 seasons with his reliable top-order batting and crafty spin bowling.

In the upcoming holidays we will see 1st XI Premiership players Josh Kann, Callum Jackson and Sol Budinger represent Qld Open Schoolboys to play NSW in a series of matches. The boys can use this as a launching pad towards Qld U19’s that will be named later in the year to play in December. Old Boys Brandon Faber and Xavier Bartlett and current Yr12 Scott Palombo are also firmly in the mix also for this team. TSS has a remarkable representation in these Qld Youth teams where future player professional contracts are offered.

Also in the last week several TSS boys including Callum O’Connor, Oliver Jackson, Lachie Mair, Etienne Chabert, Jack Tee, Daniel Statham and Brodie Graham all represented Hinterland 12’s in the South Coast Trials. Hinterland won both games on Wednesday comprehensively, first vs Pacific Rim (30 overs scored 240 to 170) and the second (final) v Broadwater by 123 runs (25 overs 242 to 119). After Thursday’s trial in Beaudesert Lachie Mair, Daniel Statham (wk/bat), Brodie Graham (wk/bat) and Etienne Chabert were selected for South Coast to attend the State Champs from TSS. Well done boys!

There is something for everyone at TSS Cricket …from the elite performers through to having a social game with your peers. Cricketers wishing to play Club Cricket starting in October 7th need to sign on asap with a club and there is a TSS Cricket camp for Yr4-10’s coming up in the first week of Sept holidays…if you wish to be involved.

TSS Cricket Sept Camp

In the upcoming holidays, The Southport School will be holding our annual Holiday Cricket Camp in the 1st week of the September school holidays for school Yr4 to Yr10 Boys .

This Skills and Games Based camp has been quite a success over recent years with boys leaving the camp as better cricketers and had lots of fun in the meanwhile.

It will be held at The Southport School on Wed, Sept 20 – Fri, September 22 from 9:30am-2:30pm each day.

During the three days, the boys will have access to level 2 and 3 cricket coaches, specialist skill sessions, video analysis, trial games and fun activities as well as lunch being provided each day.  It will also be excellent preparation for those leading into club cricket in the following week. The cost of the camp is $180 and it is open for current TSS Students AND boys not currently enrolled at TSS to attend. We are not in a position where we can accommodate boys overnight so attendees at the camp will need to find their own accommodation if they do not live in the vicinity of the school.  If you would like to be involved in this year’s camp, please register on Parent Lounge.
