TSS Cricket Round 2 vs BSHS/ Festival of Cricket 2018

Mr Steven Baker  – Director of Cricket

Round 1 of the GPS cricket saw TSS play a host of games played vs BSHS despite very challenging conditions with rain on Saturday. Special mention goes to our ground staff, coaches and boys who showed great willingness to play games on wet pitches and outfields. There certainly was some sodden players, coaches and supporters who showed the enthusiasm for a game of cricket in a most trying week for TSS boys with many games still played out.

In this second round of fixtures TSS teams were triumphant in victory in many matches and there were many stand out performances and in particular Sam Carter again starred with bat and ball in a 2nd XI win. Jack Kann played a key hand with the bat on the wettest wicket he has ever played on and the Rogers boys and Yr7E Teams as well as Yr5C/6C Teams certainly had a wet initiation to Cricket at TSS to remember!

1st XI started on time in greasy conditions. Fast bowlers struggled for footing but the TSS Spinners with Ky Newitt, Jack Hocart and Hugo Burdon were competing against a BSHS team that were off to a fast start. An interesting match was in place but due to wet conditions the umpires rightfully abandoned the match as both teams (despite our best efforts) would not have been able to bowl their fast bowlers.

Festival of Cricket Day Sunday, Feb 4

The annual Super 8’s Tournament continues to grow each year with all members of the TSS Cricket Family welcome to register and be involved from TSS Prep/ Senior Players, Parents, Old Boys & Coaches. It is also a great opportunity for fathers, boarders young and old to have access to social games of cricket early in the GPS season. It was a terrific response with TSS Younger Teams such as “Silly Sloggers” and “Frenklah’s” as well as Senior Players, Parents, Coaches and Old Boys taking part such as “Good Flavour”, “Popes VIII” and “Bakesy WOW”. The Teams were impressive through their fixture rounds and the boys played hard. The competition was split in Div 1 & a “Junior” Div 2. Congratulations to “Masulus” (Division 1) and “Roger’s Red” (Division 2) who won their finals. Well done to all participants in this year’s competition.
