A big thank you to all the families who supported this important cause. Congratulations to all prize winners published below. If you haven’t collected your prize you may collect it from the Senior School student services department within the next week.
We were fortunate that our school’s Headmaster Mr Greg Wain, donated a semester of tuition fees to our raffle to help raise maximum funds. This cause united both our Junior and Senior campus and with little over two weeks to promote the event, it makes us very proud to say that we have currently raised in excess of $30K with the final figure to be confirmed by our finance department very soon.
The School’s strong country connection was evident with many from our school community getting behind the cause and donating prizes and money to our country’s farmers.
On the night TSS boarders and day boys banded together to raise awareness and funds. Student musicians from Walker such as Taiga Corbett and Josh Hobart performed numerous stellar sets and boarding students, Tom Watts and Harry Blok spoke from the heart about the financial and emotional hardship drought brings our farmers.
One of our country Mums, Kylie Douglas from Mitchell, Qld. also spoke on the night. Ms Douglas spoke about the strain of drought, the work of the CWA and the political policies compounding the farmer’s frustration. The cause has brought awareness to members of our community who are doing it tough at the moment.
