John Wallace – Speech and Variety Club Coordinator
Last meeting, Tuesday 18 July, 62 two boys were entertained by thoughtful insightful speeches from our Years 7 & 8 boys and stimulating Impromptu presentations by our Years 9-12 boys.
Twelve Years 7 & 8 boys nominated to prepare a speech for their Main Speech Competition in 2017. Standards were high as expected and the audience was riveted to fascinating presentations. The winner for this Year was Year 8 Rogers student, Joe Madden. The title of Joe’s inspirational speech was Mateship. The winner of the Year 8 section was Hershel Aloysius who delivered another inspirational speech entitled Failures are the pillars of success.
The Year’s 9-12 boys engaged in Impromptu Speeches on the title of What hurdles and challenges will I face and endeavour to overcome in the second half of 2017. Presentations were uplifting to say the least!
In our next meeting on Wednesday 9 August boys in Years 9-12 will be involved in the Main Speech Competition. Nominations have been received from twelve boys and places are still open up until the day of competition. The meeting will commence at 6.30pm concluding at 9pm. Competitors must wear Chapel Dress.
