This weekend sees our second White Sock Day for TSS Rugby. As a community we have again sort ways in 2017 to raise awareness for domestic violence. Given the alarming statistics on the Gold Coast and the fact that in 99.9% cases the violence is caused by men, TSS has looked at ways to educate our boys and raise awareness within the community. The TSS Rugby Supporters Group led by Peter van der Schyff have been instrumental in organising our White Sock Day V Downlands at home this weekend.
All proceeds made this weekend across the School community will go to Act for Kids. Act for Kids is a not for profit organisation assisting children who have been exposed to domestic violence. Act for Kids also works in regional Queensland which links well with our boarding community. Act for Kids are in the process of attempting to fund a new full-time clinical psychiatrist and our funds will go towards assisting them to achieve their goal.
To get the community involved we will be asking for coin donations during Mentor on Friday so anything families can offer for their son to bring to school that day would be greatly appreciated. We will also have Act for Kids staff on Saturday doing the rounds to ask families from both schools to make donations.
All rugby players will be receiving white socks after training on Thursday issued by the 1st XV to wear on Saturday. We ask families to donate whatever change you have when your son receives his socks. If you have any questions about the weekend please contact Peter or myself.
