Welcome to a very special place. As the ninth Headmaster of The Southport School, and a former student originally from Emerald Qld, I can genuinely tell you that TSS is far more than a school. It is a caring community of people who share the common goal of ensuring that our boys receive every opportunity to become the best possible version of themselves.

As boys face a changing and challenging modern society, finding their way is probably more complex than ever. In combination with championing emotional intelligence, my ongoing challenge is to make sure the school’s proud history is met with an equal commitment to ensuring the education students receive does not just keep pace with contemporary social trends but in fact, sets new standards in modern, progressive education.

I am immensely proud to oversee the staff and student body we have here at TSS, because I know as a whole we are committed to the right principles of education.

I was so fortunate to attend TSS. My parents were a working-class couple from rural Queensland and our school’s ongoing ties to the bush ensure the humility which is so intrinsically tied to people from those areas, remains at the heart of TSS.

In what is considered a somewhat transient community here on the Gold Coast, TSS has been a constant for more than 120 years. Over the course of that history, the commitment to ensuring this school produces quality young men, using the Anglican values of treating others as you would have them treat you, is something in which I believe strongly.

We are proud of our non-selective enrolment policy. Our student body encompasses every conceivable background and belief. The commitment of our staff is second to none and whilst one can never make assurances about a boy’s academic results or place in a particular sporting team or recreational endeavour – we make a commitment that the boys here will be given every opportunity to find the best of themselves … to find their path to success, whatever that may look like.

Our school is bursting with opportunity, and we are extremely proud of the many exceptional young men this school has played a part in helping prepare for the outside world.
