TSS Aquatic Program: Excellence in and out of the Pool

The Southport School offers a year-round swimming program led by world-class coaches and supported by outstanding facilities, including a 12-lane 50m Olympic pool and a 6-lane 25m pool. Located at the heart of the School’s picturesque campus, the Aquatic Centre is a vibrant hub of activity, from early Learn-to-Swim lessons for preschoolers through to elite-level training for Olympians.

Whether a boy is learning essential water safety skills, swimming for fitness and fun, or aiming to compete at State, National or International levels, TSS provides a supportive and high-performance environment to help him achieve his goals.

A Proud Tradition in GPS Swimming

Swimming is the first sport on the GPS calendar, with training running through Terms 4 and 1. The GPS Swimming Championships are held mid-Term 1 in a large indoor venue in Brisbane, a unique event where all nine GPS schools gather under one roof. The electric atmosphere, created by thousands of cheering competitors and supporters, is truly unforgettable.

TSS has a rich swimming legacy, claiming its first GPS title in 1922 and securing further victories in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2013, 2015, and 2016. Among our recent alumni is Grayson Bell, who proudly represented Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and World Championships.

TSS Aquatic Club

In addition to school-based training, the popular TSS Aquatic club offers year-round squad programs open to TSS students and swimmers from other schools. It’s a thriving community for those looking to take their swimming further in a professional and inclusive setting.
