The Southport School has once again affirmed its position as one of the leading schools on the Gold Coast, achieving outstanding results in the 2025 NAPLAN assessments. TSS recorded the highest Year 5 NAPLAN results on the Gold Coast, reflecting the strength of its academic programs and the consistent engagement of its students.
TSS Head of Preparatory School Jeff Symms said being consistently ranked as a top-performing school was an outstanding achievement.
“Given how fully our boys engage in their academic program, and the dedication and expertise our teachers bring every day, these outcomes are not surprising,” he said.
“It offers a timely reminder that sustained effort and high expectations lead to outstanding rewards. Our teachers are incredibly proud of the boys and their commitment to learning.”
Mr Symms said high academic achievement remained a strategic priority for The Southport School, particularly in the context of national conversations around boys’ engagement in education.
“With increasing national attention on the declining performance and engagement of boys in education, it has become even more important for schools to understand why boys disengage and how best to address it,” he said.
“At TSS, we have never accepted the notion that boys are inherently less capable than girls academically. By maintaining a clear focus on the core purpose of primary education, building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy and by selecting evidence-based, and at times, innovative teaching methodologies, thoughtful assessment practices, and carefully structured programs to support all learners, we continue to see boys thrive.”
These results highlight TSS’s commitment to academic excellence and its ongoing focus on nurturing confident, capable learners through a rigorous and supportive educational environment.
