TSS Volleyball – A New Era Begins in 2026

The Southport School is excited to announce the introduction of Volleyball as the newest addition to our GPS sporting program, with our official entry into the GPS competition commencing in 2026. This marks an important milestone in TSS’s proud sporting tradition as we embrace one of Australia’s fastest-growing and most dynamic sports.

Under the leadership of Director of Volleyball, Mr Nigel Wilson—who brings 30 years of coaching experience, including 15 years with South Coast—the program is already building strong momentum. Supported by an accomplished and passionate coaching team, TSS Volleyball is set for an exceptional inaugural year. Our coaching team brings a wealth of national and international experience, ensuring a high-quality and holistic development environment for all athletes:

• Michala Maly – Owner of Blackbelt Mentality mental performance coaching; former Swiss National Volleyball League athlete
• Joclyn Warner – Owner and Head Coach of REPS Indoor Volleyball; former NAIA collegiate athlete; three years training with QLD Pirates and one campaign with the Australian Indoor Women’s Volleyroos
• Barry Lee – Experienced high school, university, and adult coach (Beach and Indoor)
• Thierry Liddell – Former Australian U18 and State Setter

In this foundation year, student interest has been exceptional, with a large number of boys eager to participate. The enthusiasm reflects both the rising popularity of volleyball and the positive culture being established—one that emphasises teamwork, skill development, discipline, and school pride.

With a clear athlete development pathway, a values-driven coaching philosophy, and the opportunity to compete on the prestigious GPS stage, TSS Volleyball is well positioned for a powerful debut. We look forward to watching the program grow and to establishing TSS as a respected and competitive force within GPS Volleyball.
