On Friday 31 October 2025, the TSS Foundation proudly hosted the Champions of Sport Business Lunch at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event brought together an exceptional panel of Australian sporting and business leaders, whose stories of excellence, resilience, and leadership captivated an audience of Old Boys, parents, staff, and friends of the School.
The distinguished speakers included Emma McKeon AM, Curtis McGrath OAM OLY, Courtney Atkinson, Mark Arbib, Cameron Murray, and Rebecca Frizelle OAM. Each guest offered unique insights drawn from their remarkable careers, demonstrating how the values nurtured through sport — discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and integrity — translate seamlessly into business and leadership.
Hearing from Emma McKeon, Australia’s most decorated Olympian, was an undeniable highlight. Her reflections on focus, preparation, and humility provided a powerful reminder that sustained excellence is built upon consistency and character. Curtis McGrath shared an equally compelling journey — from his service as an Australian Army combat engineer to becoming a Paralympic gold medallist — embodying the strength and optimism that define true resilience. Courtney Atkinson offered valuable perspectives from the world of endurance sport, illustrating how the principles of persistence and adaptability underpin long-term success.
Mark Arbib and Cameron Murray provided thoughtful commentary on the evolving relationship between sport, governance, and business, particularly as Australia prepares to host the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Their insights underscored the growing importance of strategic leadership and community collaboration in shaping the nation’s sporting future. Rebecca Frizelle added a valuable dimension to the discussion, drawing on her extensive experience as a business leader and advocate for women in sport. Her remarks on the power of teamwork, inclusion, and shared purpose resonated strongly with the values of The Southport School community.
The event featured a spirited auction, which raised funds for the TSS Foundation. Attendees eagerly bid on an array of exclusive experiences and memorabilia, demonstrating remarkable generosity and a shared commitment to supporting the School’s programs, scholarships, and facilities. The funds raised will have a lasting impact, helping to ensure that future generations of TSS boys continue to benefit from opportunities that develop their character, leadership, and potential.
The luncheon concluded on a high note with the announcement of the luxury cruise draw winner, generously provided by Helloworld Travel Southport. Congratulations to the lucky winner who received an incredible prize valued at $19,000.
The TSS Foundation extend their sincere thanks to our guest speakers, sponsors, alumni, parents, and supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
