The Southport School’s Preparatory School provides an outstanding education for boys. The Preparatory (Prep) School is very proud of its dedicated team of teachers who understand the special ways in which boys learn and who carefully nurture authentic relationships based upon mutual respect and genuine care. These relationships are the key to the Preparatory School’s success as boys and teachers work together in setting and achieving Academic, Sporting and Cultural goals.

We are now seeking a dedicated and highly skilled English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) Teacher for a fixed term, part-time position, 3 days per week, (0.6 FTE) commencing from Term 3, 2025 to cover a 12 month leave contract. We are looking for an EAL/D educator to work alongside the Preparatory School’s classroom teachers to provide explicit intervention, modify curriculum, keep accurate records, liaise with and report to parents, case manage students, and ensure that the identified learning needs of all students are supported. High levels of emotional intelligence and reflective practice are crucial for success in this role. The successful candidate will be an experienced educator with specific qualifications in the area and a demonstrated track record in the development and coordination of innovative programs to support the educational needs of students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, within a primary school context. Postgraduate certification in EAL/D and or TESOL studies, alongside extensive knowledge and teaching experience of EAL/D pedagogies would be considered essential. Additionally, an understanding and appreciation of the learning styles of boys would be considered an advantage, and as a member of the TSS team, you will be willing to support the Code of Conduct and stated values and Christian Ethos of the School and must hold Queensland Teacher Registration. Candidate must be able to provide a recent criminal history on request.

To apply for the role, please submit your CV along with a cover letter that outlines the knowledge, skills and attributes that you would bring to the students at our school.

Only applications submitted online by 8am on 9 June 2025 will be considered.
